Application Requirements

The College of St. Joseph the Worker seeks well-rounded students with a desire to work hard and learn quickly. To this end, the College puts most of the application weight on the essays and the interview. Please take your time in preparing your essays.

What you’ll need during the application process:

  • Admission essays

    • Prompt #1: Why are you choosing a college that integrates the trades with the Catholic intellectual tradition rather than a typical college or trade school? (500 word limit)

    • Prompt #2: G. K. Chesterton once said, “If I had one sermon to preach, it would be a sermon against Pride.” If you had one sermon to preach, what would it be about? Why? (700 word limit)

    • Prompt #3: Please tell us why you are particularly suited to excel at the College of St. Joseph the Worker. Please include anything that you think is underrepresented in the rest of your application. We are particularly interested in your experience with the trades or people in the trades, examples of community service, and insights into your personal and spiritual formation. (700 word limit)

  • A resume listing work and volunteer experience.

  • Three letters of recommendation.

    • There is a space on the application to list references. The College will request a letter from those references together with details for submission, but the student is responsible for ensuring letters are written and submitted by the deadline).

    • Submitted applications without three letters of recommendation by the application deadline will be considered incomplete and will not be considered for admission.

  • High school transcript (and college, if applicable)

    • Applicants may submit personal (unofficial) copies of transcripts. In the event that admission is offered, it will be considered provisional admission until official transcripts are received.

    • Submitted applications without all applicable transcripts submitted by the application deadline will be considered incomplete and will not be considered for admission.

  • CLT, SAT, or ACT scores

    • Our SAT Designated Institution (DI) code is 9198.

    • Applicants may submit personal (unofficial) copies of test scores. In the event that admission is offered, it will be considered provisional admission until official test scores are received.

Applicants may submit personal (unofficial) copies of transcripts and/or test scores in order to obtain a provisional offer of admission.

Students offered provisional admission may not register for classes at the College of St. Joseph the Worker until an official final transcript and test scores have been submitted directly from the high school and testing company, respectively, and verified by our admissions committee. Official documents must be received by August 1.
